As many of you know, my sister-in-law is visiting from Vancouver. When I showed her the little gift card holders we'd been making out of tiny paper sacks, she was quite captivated.
I won't say she was so captivated that she WANTED to make some but I thought we should give it a try. After all–and I told her this countless times–it's only cut and paste!
She's not a crafter but seriously; anyone can make these. Rae fretted and worried a bit but once I got her to relax she did an awesome job and now she's thrilled that she's going home with some super cute little cards ready to be filled with gift cards.
Want to peek at what we did?
Here's one of mine. Of course, I'm an inker and so I can barely make anything without inking all of the edges. Don't you love how the inking gives it that finished look though. These are so cute to make with scraps of leftover paper. they don't even HAVE to be Christmas papers. Just dig in your scrap bag for reds and greens and get to work. (You DO have a scrap bag, don't you?)
Here's Rae's first one. Didn't it turn out cute? See how the bag opens at the top in the second photo? That's where you slip the gift card in. You can write a little message on that circle inside.
Here's another one I did. Paper flowers are perfect embellishments. I love the red and white string too! I have a ton of this string….in red and white AND in gold and white. So pretty for decorating edges of things. Wrap it around the bottom edge of a photo and tie a bow on the side! Loop it around a flap and use it to hang something. These little gift card holders can hang on your Christmas tree. How cute is that?
I did one more. I couldn't resist when I came across these whimsical papers. I even had that cute little deer sticker I tucked on the inside. I also love using ricrac for trim. Have you ever dug in your sewing supplies for scrapbooking goodies? There are SO many things you can use from your other crafts. Don't be afraid to try some of them!
Here's Rae's last card. Didn't she do a great job? She was a little skeptical at first but in the end I think she was pretty happy!
Here's our mess we ended up!
But when we got that all cleaned up, we got our JUST reward.
Scrapbooking, wine and chocolate. Does it get any better than that?
i can’t think of anything better!!
Looks like a Fun Evening!
What an evening!
