I was requested to order someone four refills for their adhesive dispenser and I was a bit surprised. You see, the dispenser in question is one I'd purchased a couple of years ago….a Glue Glider Pro and I just haven't been very happy with it.
This is my dispenser here. I loved it the first few times that I used it–it seemed really good. I was also happy with the size of the dispenser–I could find it amidst my messy scrapbook piles. I'm one of those messy workers. I finish the page, tidy up a bit and move on–but that's a whole other discussion.
Back to that glue glider pro; a couple of other people saw me using it and got me to order them one. Then the problems began. All of us experienced issues with the refills. The tape would break. You can see my broken tape in the photo above. It wouldn't roll right. I tried another shipment of different cartridges–one of the cool things about this dispenser is that you can simply interchange cartridges at any time to use the adhesive you need for a particular project. But that wasn't going to work. These cartridges just didn't want to work right. The other ladies had the same issue.
I suppose I should have written to the company but it slipped my mind. Until now. These ladies LOVE their dispensers. Both are left-handed (I'm not) and they say they love it. They ordered four cartridges because they have a hard time finding them and don't like running out. (Did you know I can order most things that are hard to or impossible to find in local stores–and for competitive prices!)
So, I now have a new purple cartridge and I'm going to give it a go again. This one says multi-directional too so we'll see how it works.
As I said, I liked the size of the Glue Glider but right now, that's about all. I'll let you know how the new cartridge works.
Even if it works, I doubt I'll EVER quit using Scor-Tape. This is my all time favourite adhesive!
If I could only use one adhesive, this is it. It comes in different widths though 1/4" is probably the most popular. This tape is super sticky making it ideal for mini books and for heavy page items that might otherwise fall off. It's also super easy to tear with your fingers making it an ideal every day adhesive for pages.
I still use the 3L adhesive tabs on occasion.
This has been one of my go-to products for regular scrapbooking and it's a product I highly recommend to scrapbookers. Though not refillable, the product is low-priced enough to simply replace. It also adheres quite well. I've never had a problem with it for regular scrapbooking such as matting photos and attaching photos and light embellishments to paper. It's also easy to use this disposable roller dispenser. It really does take just a little practice to get used to it. Trust me. It works great.
My other go to adhesives would probably be two things; glue dots–for buttons, metals, flowers and other embellishments. Glue dots also work great for attaching things like ribbons and lace.
Glossy Accents is also on my list. It dries clear so it's nice if you get messy. It's also great to fill in centers of products or to make a shiny circle or dot on something too.
There's really nothing at all wrong with having several different adhesives in your stash. It's only natural that some adhesives will work better for some products than others.
Overall, when all is said and done, I still recommend Scor-Tape though, especially if you only want to buy one adhesive product. The other good thing about Scor-Tape is that I try to almost always have some in stock at The Scrapbook Room! But then again, I try to stock pretty much any adhesive that's being used regularly so really it's coming down to that good old personal preference–and there's not a thing wrong with that!
What do you think? How about taking a moment and tell me about your favourite adhesives!
