Well, scrapbookers, tomorrow is Friday and I have one page left to decorate. That's pretty good. While I wasn't able to do it entirely with items from the mail, I did do it entirely with items that would have gone into the trash or recycling.
I think this is a great lesson for young people as well. They don't need money to buy the best supplies out there to scrapbook or do art journalling. They just need paper of any kind. What a great way to be original with your work AND help the environment!
Here's the mail from today:
It was pretty much all sales plus one magazine. Not really a thrilling haul. I did like the backside of that yellow flyer!
Here's a bit of trash from the can of coffee I opened this morning.
I like the sun on the top of the little contest card. Can you make it out?
I couldn't resist asking Al & Barb for these flyers off their kitchen table. Can't you see the potential in these ones? They're the best graphics I've seen all week!
Here's that foil lid and it is attached to the page. What do you think? It might look okay with a photo mat on top. I decided to leave it as is for today and hopefully I'll come across something cool to finish it off tomorrow.
Oh by the way, I used that foil as a mask too and sprayed the Dylusions over the top. It makes a great circle underneath. Another reason I'm wondering if I should leave the foil on top or remove it. Using it as a mask was recycling whether I leave it in the album permanently or not. What would you do?
Here's my HAPPY page. See the sun off that contest coupon at the top? The word HAPPY was off Al's stuff. It needed a bit of spray to perk it up. I trimmed the yellow paper with the decorative edge scissors (who has those decorative edge scissors from years ago–they are very "in vogue" now so pull them out and use them!). And I found the word, YAY on Al's flyers too.
This is the middle inside page. That orange background sheet is the rest of the white I had left from an envelope the other day. I misted it orange and I really like how vibrant it came out. Love those little flags too–they were also on Al's flyer. So were the items on the front of the tag and that journal box and feather (made into a pen). I whited out the writing in those spaces so that I could have them blank for journalling. Pretty nifty eh!
And there's that tag outside of the pocket. You can see the little pennant flags a little better here. They are so cute. They were a graphic on Al's flyer too. So was the word WOW which I coloured orange with a Copic marker. Those things are pricey at $7.99 each but so, so colourful and fun to work with! I also coloured that journal spot on the tag orange. I realized the orange wouldn't hide the writing so I scribbed zigzaggy lines over the words and it looks like a decorative element. How cool is that?
One blank page to the left of this one plus a little more to do on that foil tag and this little mini will be just about complete!
Watch for the grand finale tomorrow!
