Hola everyone:

I just want to share a Tim Holtz folio with you. They're not only cute, they're inexpensive and easy to work with, making them great for mini albums for any occasion.

I made this particular one for a travel journal. I like that it'll be easy to tote along on vacation and I've tried to make it very user-friendly for me.

Here's a look at the raw folio.

And here's my completed journal.

After I painted (wow, that Adirondack paint is awesome. It coats beautifully and it dries super-fast!), I worked the score lines on the cover folds to break the fibres and make the folds more pliable and soft. Now I'm quite happy with how it handles.

Here's a little slide show video of my journal pages along with some notes. Take a look. If it's going too fast, just press pause on the spots you want to linger on.

As you've probably noticed, my folio is a bit wacky with various odds and ends used for pages. I didn't worry about measuring or size. They are all different. If you prefer to make your pages all the same size, that's fine too. There really is NO right or wrong to putting one of these journals together.

For mine, I've added several lined pages that should make journalling easy. I've also got some little journal spots tucked into the vellum envelope at the back. I also have that envelope and several pockets to tuck in bits of ephemera I gather. Pretty papers, receipts, ticket stubs are all possibilities for a journal. I could also make notes in areas where I want to attach photos or I can simply stick a few into the pockets.

I'd like to stick a roll (maybe a partial roll) of score tape or maybe a sheet of glue dots since it's flat into the album for easy attaching of items on my journey. I'll also need to stick a nice journalling pen in.

In the end, I probably won't include a ton of photos. How many albums can one make of a (the same) vacation destination?

We'll see if I actually fill it in while I'm away. If not, I'll still be able to add my materials in when I get back.

I love the folios. Will I use one again? I might but then again, I like to be challenged so I may just try to make up my own folio from some materials I have around here.

But if you just want to do an album without all the messing around and trial and error, I'd highly recommend a folio. I'm trying to keep a few in stock so get in touch and I'll hook you up!

Adios amigos.
