Are you still Christmas shopping?
We’re now half-way through our 12 days of The Scrapbook Room’s Favourite (scrapbook) Things.
If the shopping’s already done for your favourite scrapbooker, they can always pick these items up in January. And you’ll want to get a pair for yourself!
Before I get to today’s favourite thing, don’t forget you can go back and read all the posts for the first five days of favourites. And don’t forget to comment. Comment every day and you’ll have a chance to win the prize I’m giving away after Day 12.
What is the prize? Come on scrapbookers! Do YOU know what you’re getting from Santa ahead of time? Sheesh. You’ll have to wait and see.
(Alas, some of you probably do know ahead but you’re not going to in this case!)
Enough about Christmas secrets. Let’s get on with today’s favourite.
Day 6: Tim Holtz Scissors By Tonic Studios
Yes I have these scissors but only in the medium size. And that makes me want both the smaller and larger set as well. But, if you could only have one, I’d say take the medium size.
I’ve had my scissors for a few years now and I love them.
Why? You ask.
Here’s the main reasons:
- They have extra large kushy (Kushgrip they call it) handles. It’s easy to get your hands in and out AND they’re comfortable to hold. If you’ve got problems with your hands, these would be ideal.
- They have a serrated edge…so easy when cutting tiny, detailed things.
- Cut towards the back of them and you can CUT wire! Yes, you can! Timmy (that’s Tim Holtz) made them like that.
- And they’ve got a non-stick coating, something I really need because I’m probably what some might consider a messy scrapbooker!
Here’s a closeup look at the scissors. I seriously love the weight and feel of these.
Those red handles make them pretty easy to keep track of too! Unless you have a super-messy workspace like I do! But you’ll hunt like crazy for them if you lose track of them because I’m telling you, they cut through paper, cardboard, grunge, fabric, chipboard and wire!
Here’s the scissors in the package. You can see they also come with a protective plastic cover. (I lost mine!)
For those wondering, the scissors are priced at $21 for the 7″ blade (that’s the medium size). The 5″ blades are $17 while the 9.5″ shears are $28.
Whatever else you invest in as must-have tools for scrapbooking, I would highly recommend at least these 7″ scissors. You’ll never need another pair of scissors!
What do you think? Do you need good scissors? What size would you most want to have? And also, is your workspace tidy or messy? Do tell!
