I commented the other day that I could probably scrapbook totally with scrap–you know, old paper, trash, leftovers–stuff like that. Part of the problem is it's not good for sales! Teehee.

But on the other hand, there's always something you need. Albums. Protectors. Adhesives. Ink. So why not scrap? Why not?

Did you know I actually have a scrap area in my shop? I'm suddenly seeing the virtues of it after reading about a place in San Francisco called SCRAP. Check it out here! What a great concept! What fun!

My "scrap" section is quite a bit smaller than this! Actually a helluva lot smaller! But it's still fun. I'll even share some pictures of some of the items. Next week.

This week…I need to finish a mini album. It's one I used for a demo on the weekend and now it's time to cover the pages with paper. The tricky part is I decided I was going to try cover this whole thing with paper that comes across my "desk" this week.

So…without further adieu….here's the first day:

Here's the album base, closed…

1 album closed

Here it is opened…

2 album open

Before I started, I rounded the corners (just the outside so far but I may do them all later). I also inked the whole thing with distress ink just because I really love inking. Everything.

3 inked & rounded

Here's what I have to use today. I'm sort of cheating and using the Stories in the North flyer because it ended up coming in the house with my mail (was a crappy mail haul today too!) so I considered that it was paper that crossed my path. Fair enough? The note was left by my spot at the table this morning (by my hubby), the pattern piece is the inside of a pay stub that came in the mail and the envelope was also a piece of junk mail.

4 the papers

So I started with the bottom front flap. I turned a piece of the Stories in the North flyer backwards to use a piece of the white. Notice I did cut the words "that day" out of the front–as well as the feather pen. This is going to be a writing themed mini…as you'll soon see.

5 bottom cover

Here's the top of the flap. See what I mean about the theme? The words look pretty good though. Stories and Poetry about life. I can live with that. The background is that pay stub paper but it was a little blah so I grabbed an orange Copic marker and coloured it. I'm happy with that.

6 top cover

And here's that window envelope turned inside out and trimmed down. It's perfect for a pocket inside on the bottom front flap…but wait….it's a little blah….

7 pocket

A little ink will fix that…though it didn't dry well on the plastic window part. I should have used Stazon. Oh well…we'll cover it with something later. The pocket is attached on three sides and open at the top, just awaiting a tag or something later. It should look cute if I can find something colourful since you'll be able to see it through the window.

8 pocket inked

And here's what I had left. I made a little belly band with the thick edge off that pay stub paper and coloured it orange with that marker. I may attach it here but for now it's just sitting there. It'll hold tags or something that can slip inside it. Also, that note…should I use it? What do you think? It's just sitting there for now. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

What do you think so far?
